cool song with this thx for sharing it
sury i was out there on my last tour in Iraq in 2005 before Afghan reared its ugly head , we engaged both the Badr Force ( not Brigade) and Madhi Army irespectivie of who they were , the British done a deal with Moqda al Sadr , as the bombings and civillian deathswas caused by them , do a deal , stop people sying simple. The minute they dropped there part of the bargain they almost got wiped out up in Cimic House in Al Amarah, these are FACTS i dont need a book to argue my points i use real life
but bubbles, what is this news about the British in Basra playing off the Badr Brigade against and the Mahdi Army and vice versa while they were there?? will that not cause trouble in the future??
No i think they are all the same , they have little regard for anything , they have no rules set to them , they are nothing short of a hinderence , and caused us nothing but problems in Iraq
bubbles, I’m not doubting that in Iraq and Afghanistan we’ve had incidences were PMCs disregarded rules and regulations. However, we are talking about Executive Outcomes in Sierra Leone. Don’t you think it’s a logical fallacy to use analogies here??
All PMc’s dont work by rules and reg’s you’d realise that if you had been there or Iraq , the British did restore order after the country went tits up , try reading up on the history as of 2002 all fighting had ceased and all the old combatants had joined the Sierra leone Army , the West Side Boys had done so too after they got taking out by the Para’s and SAS
We are talking about Executive Outcomes NOT Black Water…..Two completely different outfits serving in two different times, and two different wars. It’s like comparing apples with oranges….
As for the rest, I really don’t think that it was the case that the British restored order. What is this about warrior tribes being brought into the cities?? Y’all didn’t create a modern government at all, rather what we know have are folks turning back to the old tribes and clans…..
BTW Executive order was around in sierra Leone in 95 , UK never went till 2000 , so quoting the UK with UN forces is totally false
Blackwater also had ‘ rules of engagement’ but that didnt stop them massacaring civillians , the Rules of Engagement we was under were the same we was under on the front gate of our barracks in the UK , ironically they also were the same as used in Ireland and Iraq , and the British wasnt part of the UN force that was the ECOMOG or whatever they were , we were there to restore order outside the UN but we still had a mandate
that they passed anti-mercenary edicts that put Executive Outcomes out of business just after they finished completely routing the RUF and pushing them back to their last stronghold. If anything had the UN not overreacted here, the War would of been concluded years before and many more lives would of been saved….
bubbles, strict rules of engagement?? Fact of the matter was that Executive Outcomes were abiding by the contract they signed with the actual government of Sierra Leone. So really, they were abiding by the rules of engagement as per their contract, which was basically all gloves off against the RUF.
So what if the British were abiding by the UN Mandate?? As I can recall, it was the UN that was so freaking scared by the idea of South African mercenaries running around in West Africa (cont)
yeah but dont even get me started on movies , U-571 just makes me so fucking angry lol
agreed. MARSOC is relatively new. Only what 2 years? Although they are comprised of Force Recon. I hate to give movies too much credit but movies like “Sniper” and “Clear and Present Danger” are very historically accurate portrayals of the type of daily operations the Div Recon and Force Recon have been involved in for the past 30+ years.
Well in a way thats good thing , what with the SEAL’s , Delta , SAS , SBS being to publicly known , MARSOC could and should be used more often if people aint heard of them , MARSOC are much like our Pathfinders or Brigade Recce
Yeah man, it gets under my skin that the USMC Recon units get so little credit when I know some of their involvement and their level of professionalism. In reality I think of all US units they have done the best job of keeping it quiet. When the Marines refused to give up control to SOCOM they were basically erased from the pages of spec ops as a force. I guess it has worked well for keeping the hush hush, but it burns me that all these kids don’t know anything about them.
Yes but your specifically mentioning the British and there lack of doing anything , Executive Order was in there in ’95 , British was in there in 2000 , quite a difference wouldnt you agree?!
You told me you had been in the UK for 10 yrs , if thats correct you couldnt of been in sierra Leone when the British were there as Op Palliser never started till 2000 , thats 10 yrs exactly
Yeah i have read stuff on the SAS/SBS working on the Swedish coastline to make them think the russians were wroking there , just so the swedes would play ball with NATO
Well, in the interest of the topic of the video, I would like to learn more about the operations in central and south America myself. Nicaragua, Panaman, Columbia, Peru….etc. There were a lot fo operations conducted on a daily basis in the past 30 years especially against organized military units also with Warsaw Pact advisors that will never see the light of day. I know some guys that were involved but will not say ANYTHING about it due to the high level of secrecy.
Well i cant see what denial seeing as i WAS THERE , was you there with Executive order , or something you read?
haha… bite him with the snaggle tooth!!! hahahaha
Took us years? The Nigerians etc were there for years , we dployed and the place was done and dusted , free elections were only possible once the British had moved in not some South African Mercanaries
But it didnt need it , law and order was restored the the British are currently training there Army , so its all cool now , even teaching them some parade square drill lol
Good job i am from Surrey then and only based in Windsor then lol Kaffer lol
Yes because they are mercenaries , the British Army had a UN mandate and was under strict rules of engagement , any PMC unit isnt , as has been seen in Iraq by the Blackwater Company
