This week end I went to watch a movie in Fame lido multiplex. In the interval I was feeling thirsty so went to drink water. I did not find water signs anywhere near food
So I went and asked in the counter to give one bottle of mineral water, the sales person says the 35 RS. I was shocked to find, the mineral water is being sold at Gold rates. When I asked the guy across the counter he said he had been instructed to sell at RS 35 since it is a multiplex. When I asked the bill for it they refused and said that if you want to buy then buy, they will not give any bill for it.
I did not have any other option than buying since water is one of our basic requirements and I was very thirsty.
People should not take advantage of the basic requirements of human being.
What is the food department doing? I understand that hotel or restaurants have permission to sell mineral water above the MRP. Can a food stall outside the Cinema Hall be considered a hotel or restaurant? Read the link below

The article clearly mentions “The service provided by employing scores of people should also be taken into consideration while fixing the price of such commoditiesâ€. These people do not create any ambience for the customer, they do not offer sit -outs for people then why should they be permitted to charge more? The judiciary gave room for corruption by not fixing a fixed %which can be charged. This loophole needs to be immediately corrected. Also I feel it should be made mandatory to have drinking water outside each cinema hall. In spite of having free drinking water if public chooses to have mineral water they can choose to. Providing drinking water outside cinema halls should not be difficult as all tickets are over-priced.
Same is the case with INNOX MaGrath road food court. The mock tail store refused to give simple water. They said they did not have plain drinking water. How can a store that has big boards claiming to maintaining high standards for juices not have drinking water with them. However next I asked them for Mineral water and shoot they had it.

That is the sorry state of affairs in our country, man. We, the public is partly responsible for those exhorbitant rates. As long as there are buyers, this situation will not improve. The only way is to ignore these stalls. Unfortunately, this kind of a coke-popcorn culture is imposed on us and everyone wants to just follow.
For a 2.5 hour movie, is it not possible to eat/drink something just before the movie starts from a joint outside the theatre/multiplex and then watch the movie? Once people stop buying from those stalls, the rates will automatically down. As long as there are people who want to ‘chill’ out by wasting their money, this trend is there to stay…
BTW, it is not acceptable that there is no facility for drinking water in a multiplex! No water for a Rs.200 ticket. where are we heading?
