As per PMP 4th edition there are 5 process groups namely
1) Initiation process group
2) planning process group
3) Execution process group
4) Monitor and control process group
5) Closing process group
Analysis of the project life cycle diagram
1) Typically there will overlaps in between the five process groups
2) The only exception is initiation and closing process groups, they never over laps
3) Initially the staffing and cost levels will be low and will peak in intermediate levels and will decline towards end.
4) The stake holders influence and risk and uncertainty will be very high in the beginning and decreases over the project life cycle.
